6.6 The Breakup Discussion

Q Take a moment to reflect on what you have read from the chapter reading and watched from 6.0 to 6.4. In other words, I should not expect a response to this discussion on Monday. At least take 1 day to reflect on this week's content. On average I should start to see responses by Wednesday. But, I understand you all work differently. Just take a moment to reflect on 2 chapters/2 theories before responding to the discussions. Examine the interaction in this scene. Using CMM’s Hierarchical-Serpentine Model, analyze the sequence of their conversation. Reviewing the transcript (the breakup transcript.docx Actions ) can map out the history and provide insight into the conversation. How can CMM efficiently be used to transform your example to result in a better outcome? 2. E-M: Find 1 statement that represents bifurcation point in this scene. Why do you think it is a bifurcation point? How can CMM efficiently be used to transform your example to result in a better outcome? 3. N-Z What social world is getting created here? Analyze from 1 of the characters. How can CMM efficiently be used to transform your example to result in a better outcome? Part 2 Respond to 1 student's answer by analyzing their statements from the lens of EVT. Analyze their response from EVT lens. In your response, state the question. What is expectation was violated that occurred in their example? Can a violation ever be positive? Grading Review the rubric in the above vertical dots.

The social world being created here is based on expectations, rather than productive communication. I am going to analyze Brooke in this post. She seems to imply and hint around about what she wants from Gary rather than coming out with it. She told him she didn't like flowers, but then she was upset he didn't bring her flowers. The overall message Brooke was tying to get Gary to understand was that she wanted him to love her enough to do things he didn't want to do. Overtime, resentment has built up because she feels that she tries to make him happy by doing things she doesn't want to do and she expects the same in return. Example, going to the game.
